Julie Gutman Dickinson Joins the Rosenberg Foundation’s Board of Directors
San Francisco (October 12, 2016) — The Rosenberg Foundation today announced the election of Julie Gutman Dickinson, a veteran labor rights attorney, to its Board of Directors.
“Julie Gutman Dickinson has devoted her career to public service, advocating for the rights of workers, immigrants and underserved communities,” said Clara J. Shin, chair of the Rosenberg Foundation Board of Directors. “We are delighted to have her join the Board of Directors and help the Foundation advance its work to ensure rights and equity for all Californians.”
As a partner at Bush Gottlieb, a Southern California law firm dedicated to representing labor unions and low wage workers Gutman Dickinson focuses on union organizing campaigns, collective-bargaining negotiations, political and legislative advocacy, arbitrations, and litigation to ensure that hard-working women and men who are living on the margins are compensated with appropriate pay and benefits and able to freely choose union representation. She is also an expert in unfair labor practice investigations and trials, representation elections, and organizing and strategic campaigns.
Gutman Dickinson was a trial attorney at the National Labor Relations Board in Los Angeles for 10 years. While serving as Board of Public Works Commissioner and Senior Labor Advisor to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, she negotiated project labor agreements and labor management agreements for .a variety of public and private unionized workforces. She also clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Stanley A. Weigel and . served as an adjunct law professor at Stanford Law School, her alma mater. Gutman-Dickinson has served as the chapter editor for the American Bar Association’s treatises, “The Developing Labor Law” and “How to Take a Case to the NLRB”, and has written articles and opinion pieces that are frequently published in national outlets.
