Assets


The Rosenberg Foundation endowment is invested in a diversified and actively managed portfolio of stocks and bonds, consistent with Rosenberg Foundation’s fiduciary duties under law. A small part of the Foundation’s endowment is invested in mutual funds and venture capital partnerships. The Foundation’s investments had a total market value of $60,137,267 as of December 31, 2019.

Investment Management


Rosenberg Foundation investments are managed by Vanguard Institutional Advisory Services.

Payout


Federal law requires that each private foundation spend no less than five percent of the market value of its assets in grants and operating expenses each year. The Rosenberg Foundation’s policy is to distribute more each year than federal law requires. From 2016-2019, the Foundation averaged a total payout of 5.8%. The policy of the Foundation is to spend an average of 5.5% of assets annually in order to maintain the real value of the Foundation’s endowment over time.
