SAN FRANCISCO — The Board of Directors of the Rosenberg Foundation has approved grants totaling nearly $1 million to 19 organizations across California working to advance equality and opportunity for undocumented youth, advocate for immigrant workers’ rights and champion criminal justice reform.

As part of its Immigrant Rights and Integration portfolio, the Rosenberg Foundation awarded $60,000 to the California Dream Team Alliance to create a statewide network of local affiliates led by and for undocumented youth. The Dream Team Alliance also will work to develop the capacity and leadership of undocumented youth. In addition, the Foundation awarded $30,000 to ASPIRE, a program of the Asian Law Caucus and the country’s first group for pan-Asian DREAM youth, and $30,000 to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) to support organizing efforts for undocumented high school and college students.

The Foundation also awarded $40,000 to the Warehouse Workers Resource Center, under the fiscal sponsorship of CLUE California, to empower warehouse workers in San Bernadino and Riverside Counties.

Grants approved in the area of criminal justice reform include $50,000 to Californians for Safety and Justice to assist in supporting local reentry initiatives and efforts to advance criminal justice innovation. Other investments under the Foundation’s Justice and Public Safety portfolio include $25,000 to the University of California Students Association to educate students on prison system waste; $50,000 to PICO California’s Lifelines to Healing campaign, a network of faith-based organizations mobilizing to address crime in their communities; $50,000 to the Community Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment to reduce recidivism and promote alternatives to incarceration; and $50,000 to the National Council of La Raza to ensure that Latino voices and perspectives are represented in public policy debates on criminal justice.
